Context

  • The design brief encouraged taking two completely stand-alone food or drink items to create a new flavour mash-up, inteded for a millenial audience.

  • I decided to combine the trendy, gritty, authentic farm aesthetic with a modern, vibrant, bold look.

  • After carrying out competitor anaylsis and market research, I decided to move away from traditional wine branding towards more bolder, playful concepts in order to stand out in a heavily populated market.

  • Ideation & Process

  • Brainstormed unexpected flavour combinations and mapped out visual directions, focusing on bright, quirky colour pallettes, and custom character-driven illustrations, such as angry, fiery bacon.

  • Explored various naming concepts, including The Maple Treatment and Fried, as well as trendy packaging options, such as boxed or canned wine.

  • Sketched and refined wireframes and UI screens for both the mobile app and the physical product, incorporating custom icons and calming pastel visual language.

  • Designed the physical companion (teddy bear) features, including weighted glass micro-pellets (for sensory comfort), a night-light nose, fidget accessories, removable NFC patches for easy washing and a clear, hands-free phone panel for the app to work hands-free.

  • Outcomes

  • Delivered a cohesive product ecosystem that seamlessly combines a physical comforting companion with a digital routine-builder to promote personal independence.

  • Created an accessible, fully customisable daily task checklist function, paired with video guides to boost self-belief and confidence.

  • Designed a cohesive and accessible yet friendly and welcoming brand identity.
